Desired Qualifications:
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments OR California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually impaired students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction and materials for students with visual impairments
- Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary school teams
- Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with visual impairments in multiple grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Adapt classroom materials, assessments, and learning environments for accessible engagement
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to integrate modifications and accommodations
- Consult with families to support learning goals beyond the classroom and advocate for necessary resources
- Monitor progress, collect data, and actively participate in IEP meetings
- Offer staff training and resource recommendations to promote school-wide inclusivity
