Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, or
- California teaching credential with authorization to teach visual handicapped students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
- Commitment to inclusivity and student-centered learning
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ abilities and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to their needs
- Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to facilitate integration
- Offer resources and guidance to families to reinforce learning outside of school
- Maintain documentation and progress reports aligned with regulatory requirements
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and school events as needed
