Shape the future for students with visual impairments by providing vital support within a dynamic educational environment. This full-time contract position offers the chance to work closely with a dedicated team across one school site, delivering curriculum-aligned instruction and accommodations to K-12 students. Collaborate with two fellow Teachers of the Visually Impaired to make a real difference throughout the 2026/2027 school year, beginning August 19th and concluding June 4th, 2027. Each student's needs are individualized, determined by IEP goals, offering daily opportunities to tailor your expertise and advocacy.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid California Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification
- Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential
- Passion for supporting K-12 students with diverse visual needs
- Experience collaborating with general and special education staff preferred
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
- Ability to adapt to various instructional settings and modify curriculum materials
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and intervention to students with visual impairments in classroom settings
- Work closely with other TVIs to ensure comprehensive service delivery
- Implement and monitor accommodations based on each student's IEP goals
- Partner with classroom teachers to make curriculum accessible and foster independence
- Communicate regularly with families, school staff, and IEP teams regarding student progress and needs
- Maintain detailed, timely documentation as required by school guidelines
