Step into a highly impactful role supporting visually impaired students across multiple schools in an engaging, collaborative educational environment. You will work with a caseload of 12 direct students—delivering 690 service minutes per week—and provide consultative expertise for additional students. The position spans five schools, offering you the opportunity to make a difference throughout the district and develop meaningful connections with students and staff.
What we’re seeking:
- Florida Department of Education certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proficiency in teaching Braille and accessible educational materials
- Experience delivering direct instruction as well as consultative support in K–12 settings
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and technologies for students with visual impairments
- Comfortable traveling between sites within a district to meet students across multiple locations
- Ability to manage and prioritize a dynamic caseload and service minutes efficiently
- Fingerprinting through district or AHCA Clearinghouse (if previously completed, prints may be pulled)
Key responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction, including Braille, to visually impaired or blind students per individual education plans
- Serve 12 students directly and offer consultation for 2 additional students weekly
- Adapt and modify instructional materials, incorporating assistive technology and accessible resources
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support each student’s needs
- Monitor progress, document service minutes, and update records in compliance with district and state requirements
- Travel between up to five assigned school sites within the district
This contract position begins in October, concluding in early June, and offers a 35-hour work week throughout the school year.
