Teacher of Visually Impaired - Vero Beach, FL
Make a meaningful impact supporting visually impaired students as a contract educator within a supportive school district near Vero Beach, FL. This full-time, on-site role focuses on providing personalized instruction and consultation to help students thrive across five campuses. You'll serve 12 direct students, deliver 690 service minutes per week, and offer ongoing consults, ensuring each learner receives tailored support and resources.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Florida Department of Education certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching Braille to students at various levels
- Ability to manage and travel between multiple school locations within the district
- Commitment to meeting individualized education plan (IEP) goals specific to visually impaired learners
- Familiarity with credentialing, including district fingerprinting requirements (AHCA Clearinghouse prints may be accepted if previously obtained)
- Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate services across five schools
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to visually impaired students across various age groups
- Provide approximately 690 service minutes weekly to 12 direct students and conduct consults for additional cases
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to integrate services and advocate for students’ needs
- Keep accurate records of interventions, progress, and required documentation
- Travel between schools as needed to offer on-site instruction and support
