What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working in a school-based setting, preferably with students who are visually impaired
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work closely with students, families, and school teams
- Flexibility and adaptability for meeting individual student needs and adjusting instructional strategies
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized instruction to a single pediatric student with a visual impairment, adapting materials and methods to support their unique learning style
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure full access to the curriculum
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, documenting progress and adjusting plans as needed
- Utilize specialized equipment and technology for visually impaired students
- Provide guidance and resources to families, empowering them to support their child’s education
