What we’re looking for:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience providing instruction to students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school or educational setting
- Strong understanding of adapted curriculum and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a flexible, travel-based schedule across several locations
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills when working with students, educators, and families
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students who are visually impaired, adapting teaching methods and materials to their individual needs
- Serve a school-aged caseload, traveling to different sites throughout the county
- Collaborate closely with school staff to implement accommodations, modifications, and accessibility tools
- Conduct functional vision assessments and support the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide training to staff and caregivers on effective strategies and technology use to support student learning
- Maintain accurate documentation and consistent communication regarding student progress
