Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the state
- Experience delivering individualized instruction to children with visual impairments, especially in pediatric settings
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to fostering growth, independence, and academic achievement for students with diverse needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 direct instruction, adapting and modifying curriculum to suit the needs of a visually impaired student
- Assess the student’s strengths and areas for growth to develop and implement an individualized education plan (IEP)
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistent care and learning strategies
- Provide ongoing resources and guidance to facilitate accessible learning, including instructional materials and assistive technology
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings and reviews
- Serve as an advocate for the student’s needs within the school environment
