As an itinerant teacher, you’ll have the unique opportunity to engage with various school communities, ensuring students with visual impairments receive the tailored support and instruction they need. Working onsite alongside district staff, your influence will reach students in Southern, South Eastern, and Dallastown areas, helping to break down barriers and foster independence.
Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel between school locations throughout York County
- Passion for advocacy and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and adapt curriculum to meet individual needs of students with visual impairments
- Consult and collaborate with general and special education teachers, staff, and families to facilitate student success
- Assess students' abilities, track progress, and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver direct and consultative services in compliance with state and federal laws
- Utilize assistive technology and support accessibility in classroom environments
- Participate in professional development and district meetings as required
This is a full academic year position (August 18, 2025 to June 1, 2026), based onsite and requiring travel between schools within York County. Share your expertise, foster growth, and be part of a supportive professional community.
