Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience instructing or supporting students with significant visual impairments, preferably in a school environment.
- Knowledge of accessible instructional strategies, assistive technologies, and Braille.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, general educators, and support staff.
- Ability to adapt educational materials and the learning environment to maximize student independence and success.
- Organizational skills to manage itinerant schedules and travel between sites as needed.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to an individual student’s learning plan and significant vision needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor instructional strategies to support the student’s access to the curriculum.
- Conduct assessments to determine educational needs and progress.
- Consult and collaborate with school personnel and families to ensure the student’s optimal learning experience.
- Provide training on assistive technology and adaptations to staff and the student, as necessary.
- Maintain detailed documentation and comply with all educational and confidentiality standards.
Enjoy a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, working 20 hours per week from August through June. Compensation ranges from $37 to $43 per hour, reflecting your experience and expertise in this valued specialty.
