Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments, particularly those with significant or complex needs
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the unique learning style and requirements of visually impaired students
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive tools for visually impaired learners
- Capacity to work independently as an itinerant educator
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction to a single student with significant visual impairments
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create the most inclusive learning environment
- Utilize a variety of adaptive materials and assistive technology
- Maintain accurate records of student goals, progress, and interventions
- Travel between educational sites as required
This part-time contract consists of 20 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday, beginning in August and concluding in June, aligning with the academic calendar. Compensation ranges from $37 to $43 per hour, with the final rate determined by experience and skill set.
