This assignment is based near the vibrant community of Evanston, IL. Besides its rich cultural heritage and lakefront beauty, Evanston boasts an inviting atmosphere and easy access to Chicago’s exciting amenities. As a travel professional in this location, you’ll expand your network, gather insights into different school and leadership styles, and enrich your resume with unique experiences that only come with travel roles.

Gain valuable experience with an itinerant caseload by supporting one student with significant visual needs. With part-time hours, you’ll have the flexibility to balance meaningful work and adventure, making the most of your free time—whether exploring local landmarks or developing new skill sets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students, especially those with significant needs, preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in an itinerant setting
  • Flexible and adaptable to various school environments

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to 1 student with significant needs
  • Develop and implement IEP goals in coordination with school staff and families
  • Travel to student’s location(s) as needed within the assigned area
  • Document student progress and adjust teaching strategies for optimal learning
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team

Role Details:

  • Part time: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday schedule
  • Duration: August–June
  • $37–$43 per hour, based on experience and skill set
  • Itinerant travel assignment
