Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum materials and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Implement assistive and adaptive technology, including Braille, audiobooks, and magnification tools
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and resources
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
