Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students who are blind or low vision (K-12 preferred)
- Proficiency in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible educational materials
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Dedication to fostering independence and academic growth
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to adapt materials and ensure full participation
- Assess and monitor student progress; document and communicate results with IEP team members
- Provide training in the use of assistive technologies, orientation, and mobility as appropriate
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to help shape individualized plans
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired learners within the school community
