Teacher of Visually Impaired in Henrico, VA

Key Qualifications:
- Hold valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience in a K-12 setting with visually impaired students strongly preferred
- Thorough understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Organized, flexible, and committed to student-focused teaching
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students' visual functioning and create individualized learning plans
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive devices
- Coordinate with general and special education staff to ensure inclusive practices
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Track progress, maintain records, and communicate regularly with families and team members
- Provide training and resources to colleagues and caregivers regarding visual impairments
