Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by supporting children and young people with visual impairments as a full-time, onsite Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the Denver area. This school-based contract position begins July 31, 2026, and runs through May 26, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 35 hours (Monday to Friday). Work with students across the age spectrum from early childhood through high school, enabling every learner to access the resources and support they need to thrive.
Key Qualities and Preferred Experience:
- Active Colorado Department of Education certification (Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment, ages 0–21)
- Master’s degree or higher in special education—visual impairment or equivalent
- Experience conducting and interpreting functional vision assessments
- Strong background in developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual needs
- Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification preferred, though not required
- Commitment to completing the entire school year
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess and plan educational programming based on vision-related evaluations and student eligibility
- Create and deliver individualized instruction for students with visual impairments, including teaching skills for blindness or deaf-blindness
- Support students across the district, adapting environments and materials as needed for accessibility
- Collaborate with families, staff, and district teams to advance student success and align with district goals
- Maintain all required documentation and support full compliance with regulatory requirements
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support the educational team
