As a district-based Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will support a diverse caseload, potentially ranging from early childhood education through high school. This full-time, onsite contract extends throughout the school year and requires a deep commitment to student success and collaboration.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess an active Colorado DOE certification with an endorsement for “Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)”
- Hold a master’s degree or higher in special education visual impairment or equivalent as recognized by the department
- Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification is preferred (not required, but prioritized)
- Able to successfully complete district credentialing, including background checks and fingerprinting
- Skilled in collaboration across multidisciplinary education teams
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct and interpret vision-related assessments, including functional vision and Expanded Core Curriculum evaluations for students ages birth to 21
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) meeting unique student visual needs
- Deliver specialized instruction, facilitate orientation and mobility training, and provide tailored interventions for students with multiple disabilities
- Adapt classrooms and educational materials to optimize accessibility for visually impaired learners
- Coordinate resources and maintain detailed student and HR documentation
- Foster partnerships with families, educators, and district staff to achieve educational goals and drive compliance with district policies
- Demonstrate unwavering commitment to finish the entire school year as part of district priorities
