Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education certificate with endorsement for “Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)”
- Master’s degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in special education visual impairment or its equivalent
- Experience working with students from early childhood through age 21
- Strong ability to conduct and interpret vision-related assessments
- Orientation & Mobility Certification preferred, though not required
- Willingness to complete district credentialing, including background and fingerprint checks
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and interpret vision-related assessments, developing tailored educational plans for students
- Provide specialized instruction and academic support, including expanded core curriculum, to learners with visual impairments and additional disabilities
- Support orientation and mobility needs, helping students navigate educational and community environments
- Adapt classroom materials and maintain productive learning settings that foster growth and success
- Collaborate effectively with families, educational staff, and administrators to prioritize student needs and share progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with district guidelines
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the district, with a commitment to the full academic year
