Key Qualifications:
- Possess a valid teaching certificate with a Vision endorsement from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or completion of relevant teacher preparation programs
- Strong skills in Braille are highly valued; caseloads can be tailored to your expertise
- Ability to pass district background checks, fingerprinting, and employment history reviews as required by House Bill 486
- Willingness to work across a geographically organized cluster of schools, with flexibility given to those with specialized skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver vision services to students as specified by individualized education plans (IEPs) within several closely located schools
- Attend all IEP meetings virtually (while onsite), minimizing travel and maximizing time with students
- Collaborate with a supportive team of colleagues, including fellow TVIs and Orientation & Mobility specialists
- Adapt services to suit the needs and strengths of your caseload, which may range from 1-3 schools if Braille expertise is a specialty, to 8-10 schools with alternating schedules for students with less intensive service needs
- Maintain detailed records and uphold all district policies and credentialing standards
