We are seeking a skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide essential vision services across a cluster of schools near Parkville, MD. What We’re Looking For:
- Valid teaching certificate with a Vision endorsement from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
- Demonstrated experience or training in Braille (assignment tailored to your braille proficiency)
- Previous experience serving as a teacher for the visually impaired is highly desirable
- Comfortable with a hybrid model: in-person services with virtual IEP participation (from a school location)
- Able to provide required images of licenses, complete a district background check, fingerprinting, and employment history review as mandated by state law
Role Highlights:
- Deliver vision services as determined by students’ IEPs across a geographically organized cluster of schools
- Support students from various age groups, with individualized assignments prioritized according to your unique strengths—whether you are an expert in Braille or excel in other aspects of vision teaching
- Participate in all IEP meetings virtually, reducing time spent away from direct student engagement
- Collaborate with a dedicated team that already includes multiple teachers of the visually impaired and an orientation & mobility specialist
Additional Details:
- Full-time, 37.5 hours/week; part-time options available (full days required, details discussed during interview)
- School-based presence required; remote work from home is not supported
- Clustered assignments minimize daily travel, tailored based on your skill set
