Step into a meaningful role supporting students with visual impairments by providing specialized instruction and services in a cluster of schools near the Baltimore area. This contract position offers a blend of on-site student engagement with the convenience of participating in IEP meetings virtually while located at a county-school premise. Flexible assignment clusters will be determined based on your strengths and preferences, including your proficiency in Braille.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland teaching certificate with Vision endorsement (MSDE required)
- Demonstrated experience in teaching students with visual impairments (all school-age groups)
- Confidence in adapting instruction to meet diverse visual needs, including providing Braille instruction if proficient
- Comfortable traveling between assigned schools within a defined area
- Competency with technology to support virtual participation in meetings
- Ability to fulfill all district credentialing, background, and fingerprint requirements
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and vision services as outlined in student IEPs within a clustered set of schools
- Attend IEP meetings virtually between in-person student sessions (from school sites)
- Collaborate with a team of existing TVIs and Orientation & Mobility specialists
- Adapt caseload in coordination with your strengths—whether Braille-focused or other vision accessibility services
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with district expectations
- Flexibly support students across several campuses, with travel requirements adjusted based on skillset
