What You'll Need:
- Certification and experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Orientation and Mobility (O&M) credentials strongly preferred
- Understanding of specialized instruction and adaptive strategies for visually impaired students
- Ability to collaborate with school teams, families, and support personnel
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and responsiveness to students’ unique needs
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 570 minutes of instruction in vision services to students, ensuring each individual’s goals are met
- Lead and facilitate training for staff at the start of the Fall to build awareness and effective accommodations for visually impaired students
- Provide 300 minutes of orientation and mobility instruction, supporting students in navigating their school and community environments safely and confidently
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on visual impairment and mobility needs
- Consult with teachers and staff to integrate accessible materials and adapt curriculum
- Track and document student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary
- Advocate for student needs and collaborate with external providers as part of a multidisciplinary team
