Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Proven experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of orientation and mobility instruction techniques
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional services in vision and orientation/mobility (up to 570 mins vision support, 300 mins orientation & mobility)
- Provide fall training sessions for staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Conduct thorough student assessments and contribute to the development of IEP goals
- Consult with other educators, staff, and families to create accessible learning opportunities
- Champion independence and self-advocacy skills in students with visual impairments
