Key Qualifications:
- Certification and endorsement in teaching students with visual impairments (TVI)
- Orientation and Mobility (O&M) certification or training preferred
- Previous experience working in a school setting with blind and visually impaired students
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to individual student needs
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver approximately 570 minutes of vision services to students, adapting lessons and technology to maximize access to curriculum
- Lead staff training sessions on best practices and strategies to support visually impaired learners in the Fall
- Provide approximately 300 minutes of direct Orientation and Mobility instruction, fostering students’ independence and safe navigation skills
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including classroom teachers, therapists, and administrative staff, to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress, adjust instructional approaches, and maintain accurate documentation
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students and families, supporting smooth transitions and empowering student self-advocacy
