Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credential
  • Proven knowledge in providing specialized instruction to visually impaired students
  • Expertise in developing and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Experience or specialization in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) instruction
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 570 minutes of vision instruction, providing tailored strategies and resources for students with visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with staff by offering dedicated training sessions in the fall to build campus-wide capacity for supporting visually impaired students.
  • Provide 300 minutes of Orientation & Mobility instruction, enhancing mobility skills, safety awareness, and confidence as students navigate their school and community.
  • Consult with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure accommodation and access for all learners.
  • Keep detailed records of student progress and adapt instructional methods to meet evolving needs.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing collaboration with district staff.
