Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credential
- Proven knowledge in providing specialized instruction to visually impaired students
- Expertise in developing and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Experience or specialization in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) instruction
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 570 minutes of vision instruction, providing tailored strategies and resources for students with visual impairments.
- Collaborate with staff by offering dedicated training sessions in the fall to build campus-wide capacity for supporting visually impaired students.
- Provide 300 minutes of Orientation & Mobility instruction, enhancing mobility skills, safety awareness, and confidence as students navigate their school and community.
- Consult with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure accommodation and access for all learners.
- Keep detailed records of student progress and adapt instructional methods to meet evolving needs.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing collaboration with district staff.
