Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairments
- Experience working with children or young adults with visual disabilities in an educational setting
- Knowledge of Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Adaptable and innovative mindset to individualize instruction
- Ability to collaborate with general educators, specialists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings
- Assess individual student needs, and create appropriate educational plans
- Develop and adapt lesson materials to be accessible in Braille, large print, or digital formats
- Work closely with school staff to ensure students’ learning needs are met and accommodations are provided
- Consult with families and other professionals to support students’ progress and advocate for resources
- Track and document student progress, contributing to education plans and report updates
