Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Byron, Minnesota
Exciting opportunity available for an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve K-8 students in a dynamic public charter school setting. This contract role provides essential consulting and support services for students with mild to moderate visual impairments. Working near the Byron and Rochester, MN area, you’ll collaborate closely with IEP teams to create optimal educational experiences for students who are blind or visually impaired.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Minnesota teaching license with a Special Education: Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) endorsement
- Proven experience working with students who have mild to moderate vision impairments, ideally within K-8 educational environments
- Strong consultative and communication skills for effective collaboration with IEP teams, families, and other staff members
- Comfort with virtual meetings (Zoom)
- Strong organizational abilities for timely completion of paperwork and documentation
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a consultant for IEP teams, providing expertise on accommodations, modifications, and best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Attend Zoom meetings with staff and students as needed, typically twice a month (5 hours per session, totaling 10 hours monthly)
- Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain detailed records pertaining to student progress and services provided
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for K-8 students with a range of visual needs, including those with more severe vision challenges
