Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain appropriate credentials
- Experience working with school-aged children who are visually impaired, particularly at the elementary level
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals tailored to individual student needs
- Strong collaboration skills to work with general education staff, families, and support personnel
- Proficiency in adaptive technologies and resources for visually impaired students
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for two visually impaired students in 3rd and 5th grade, 2-3 hours per day
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other related service providers to adapt materials and curriculum
- Assess student progress, track IEP goal achievement, and participate in IEP meetings
- Offer training and assistance to staff in using assistive technology and accessible resources
- Communicate regularly with families to support student achievement and independence
