Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally in a school setting
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education teachers, staff, and families
- Familiarity with adaptive technologies, braille, and assistive devices for visual impairments
- Ability to design and modify curriculum to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Organizational skills and reliability in maintaining student documentation
Position Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instructional support to two elementary students with visual impairments (grades 3 and 5)
- Assess individual needs and adapt teaching strategies and materials accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive practices
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to documentation and progress reports
- Utilize braille, large print, and technology tools to facilitate student access to curriculum
