Travel professional educators specializing in visual impairments have an exciting opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year! An onsite role is available with a supportive school community in the Columbus, GA area. This full-time contract position offers the chance to work closely with students who are visually impaired, collaborating with district staff to provide essential education and support. Interviews are projected to be scheduled in June or early July pending finalization of the district’s budget, with an August start date and potential pre/post planning days.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid Georgia Educator Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired required
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting preferred
- Comfortable and proficient in maintaining daily service logs and documentation
- Flexibility regarding caseload and age group placement (to be determined in the interview process)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and the school community
- Commitment to onsite service (remote/teletherapy candidates not considered for this role)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support for students with visual impairments in various educational settings
- Assess student needs, develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate daily service records and report student progress
- Participate in team meetings, consultations, and ongoing professional development
- Adapt materials and environments to promote student access and engagement
