Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Cupertino, California

We are seeking both an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a brailler to provide specialized educational services within a school environment. Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid certification or credentials as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in a schools setting
- Proficiency in teaching braille and designing adapted instructional materials
- Strong communication and advocacy skills for collaborating with students, staff, and families
- If applying as a brailler: proven expertise in producing accurate braille materials for academic use
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and resources for students with varying needs
- Commitment to fostering inclusive classroom environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in classroom settings
- Develop and adapt lesson plans, teaching strategies, and assessment methods to meet student needs
- Produce or coordinate the creation of accessible instructional materials using braille and assistive technology
- Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to support student progress
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, supporting their academic and social-emotional development
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to collaborative educational planning
