An exciting contract opportunity is available for a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students at a school for the blind near Ellicott City, MD. This full-time role provides the chance to work closely with K-12 students, utilizing your expertise to foster independence and enhance learning experiences.
As a TVI, you'll play a pivotal role across various grade levels, collaborating with dedicated educators and families to develop and implement individualized education plans. Your skills will help expand student access to curriculum materials, deliver essential instruction in Braille and assistive technology, and promote an inclusive, empowering learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland TVI licensure required
- Experience teaching K-12 students preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instruction methods for diverse student needs
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students in grades K-12
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with educational staff, administrators, and families
- Provide training and resources for teachers and support staff
- Assess student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed
- Support students in developing independence and self-advocacy skills
