Key Qualifications:
- Credentialed as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience, or strong interest, in K-12 settings
- In-depth knowledge of educational strategies for students with visual impairments
- Skills in adapting curriculum, assistive technology, and creating accessible classroom materials
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct and consultative instruction tailored to students with visual impairments
- Assess individual needs, develop and implement appropriate learning plans
- Offer expert guidance on adaptive devices, Braille, large print, and other tools to support access
- Collaborate with general education teachers to design accessible lessons
- Participate in IEP development, meetings, and progress reporting
- Support students’ social and emotional development, promoting independence and self-advocacy
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and progress records
