Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold an active Massachusetts VI Teacher License and MA Department of Education (DOE) certification
- Successful completion of MTELs
- Background in teaching students with visual impairments in school settings
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Dedication to individualized instruction and student advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet each student’s needs
- Provide direct instruction in specialized skills such as Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility
- Work closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster a supportive learning environment
- Assess student progress, adjust strategies, and document outcomes as required
