Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher) through the Massachusetts Department of Education
- Successful completion of relevant MTELs
- Deep understanding of instructional strategies tailored for students with visual impairments
- Ability to collaborate with educational team members, families, and related service providers
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Commitment to inclusive practice and equitable access for all students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in an onsite school environment
- Develop and adapt lesson plans, materials, and assessments to meet individual student needs
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and strategies
- Evaluate students’ progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and related planning
- Provide orientation, mobility training, and support for assistive technology as appropriate
- Educate school community members to foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere
