Qualifications and Experience Sought:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Solid understanding of Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Experience developing and adapting curriculum materials to accommodate visual impairments
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct functional vision assessments and provide individualized instruction
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Previous experience working in a school setting is a plus

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
  • Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapting educational materials and environments to meet student needs and ensure accessibility
  • Providing guidance and support to classroom teachers regarding instructional strategies and accommodations
  • Collaborating with families, therapists, and service providers to optimize student progress
  • Monitoring and reporting on student growth and adapting strategies for continued progress
  • Conducting training sessions for staff and families on best practices and use of adaptive devices
