Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Solid understanding of Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Experience developing and adapting curriculum materials to accommodate visual impairments
- Demonstrated ability to conduct functional vision assessments and provide individualized instruction
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Previous experience working in a school setting is a plus
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapting educational materials and environments to meet student needs and ensure accessibility
- Providing guidance and support to classroom teachers regarding instructional strategies and accommodations
- Collaborating with families, therapists, and service providers to optimize student progress
- Monitoring and reporting on student growth and adapting strategies for continued progress
- Conducting training sessions for staff and families on best practices and use of adaptive devices
