Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement for Visual Impairment
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, across various grade levels
- Proficiency with Braille, Nemeth Code, and assistive technology (screen readers, magnification devices, etc.)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, accessible instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
- Create and modify lesson materials using Braille and large-print formats
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide input for IEP team meetings
- Train students and staff in the use of assistive technologies and adaptive equipment
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
- Contribute to the development of effective learning environments that foster independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth
