Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Familiarity with adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible educational materials
- Strong skills in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Clear communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to adapt curricula and materials
- Support students in developing compensatory skills for independent access to academic and daily living activities
- Partner with families, offering resources and strategies to support student success at home and school
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to advocate for necessary accommodations and support
