Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Solid understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and teaching strategies for visually impaired learners
- Previous experience working with students with vision impairments, preferably within a school setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and related service providers
- Organizational skills and adaptability to address individualized student needs
Your Impact Will Include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction based on students’ IEPs, creating an accessible and encouraging classroom environment
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and implement accommodations or modifications
- Conducting functional vision assessments and contributing to IEP meetings
- Supporting students as they build orientation, mobility, and daily living skills for increased independence
- Serving as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and staff on best practices, adaptive devices, and instructional materials
