Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization or endorsement in Visual Impairment
- Proven experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible teaching strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, educational staff, and service providers
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusivity
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments across all grade levels
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials for accessibility
- Assess students’ abilities and needs, contributing to the IEP process
- Guide and support teachers and paraprofessionals in accommodating visually impaired students
- Monitor and document student progress, making recommendations for additional services as needed
- Collaborate with families to ensure student success both in and out of the classroom
