Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or related field
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired across a range of grades
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Capable of conducting assessments, composing progress reports, and consulting with school staff and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instructional strategies to meet student needs
- Modify classroom materials and adapt lesson plans for accessibility
- Provide direct instruction in Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of specialized technology or visual aids
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and support staff, offering training and guidance on accommodations
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary to ensure growth and success
- Engage regularly with families to communicate strategies, progress updates, and foster inclusive educational experiences
