Serving students onsite, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, helping to create an accessible and engaging learning environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Massachusetts VI Teacher License and active MA DOE License required
- Successful completion of all necessary MTELs
- Previous experience in teaching or supporting students who are visually impaired, preferably in school settings
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Flexible and adaptive in approach, with commitment to student-centered instruction
- Familiarity with braille, assistive technologies, and accessible curriculum materials is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support for students with visual impairments to facilitate their participation and success in the school environment
- Adapt curriculum, teaching strategies, and materials to suit students’ individual needs
- Consult and collaborate regularly with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to ensure student goals are met
- Assess students’ needs, document progress, and contribute to IEPs or 504 plans as required
- Serve as a resource for school staff regarding best practices for accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all relevant regulations and requirements
