An experienced educator is needed for a vital role providing specialized instruction and guidance to learners in need of a Visually Impaired Teacher. This contract opportunity, situated near Andover, MA, is ideal for someone who holds a current VI Teacher license and has a passion for adaptive education.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) VI Teacher License
  • Successful completion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Adaptable, compassionate, and patient approach with diverse learners
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in compliance with IEP goals
  • Assess student needs and adapt teaching methods to support individualized learning
  • Collaborate with general education staff, other specialists, and families
  • Provide recommendations for classroom adaptations, materials, and assistive tools
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and documentation of IEPs
  • Attend meetings, professional development, and relevant training sessions as required
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for students' access to curriculum and school activities
