Teacher of Visually Impaired in Lowell, MA

We're seeking a dedicated professional for a contract position to serve as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the upcoming school year, from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027. Full-time and part-time schedules are available to suit your professional needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) License as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Successful completion of Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
- Expertise in adapted instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and Braille instruction
- Strong communication and advocacy skills for collaboration with staff, families, and related service providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students across grade levels
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to design and implement accessible curricula and accommodations
- Assess student progress, provide progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings
- Instruct students in use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility techniques, and daily living skills as appropriate
- Support families by providing guidance, resources, and consistent updates on student progress
