Qualifications and Experience:

  • Credentialed as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligible for relevant certification
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and specialized instructional strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborative approach when working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
  • Organizational skills and adaptability for managing diverse caseloads
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible learning environments

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons for accessibility
  • Assess students’ needs and monitor progress to ensure educational goals are met
  • Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families for consistent support
  • Create accessible materials using Braille, audio, and tactile resources
  • Consult and train school personnel on strategies and tools for supporting visually impaired learners
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expert input on student accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and program documentation
