Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Proven experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and educational staff.
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of visually impaired learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments based on individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education team members, and related service providers.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans, materials, and assessments to support accessibility and maximize student engagement.
- Conduct student assessments and participate in IEP meetings to recommend goals and accommodations.
- Train staff and peers in methods of inclusion and accessibility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress, interventions, and services provided.
