Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential for the visually impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments in a school environment
- Solid understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and instructional adaptations
- Proficiency with Braille, assistive technology, and accessibility tools
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and a flexible, student-focused approach
Role responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailored to individual strengths and needs
- Modify classroom materials and activities to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Consult with general education teachers to facilitate classroom integration and accommodations
- Assess student progress, develop educational plans, and participate in IEP meetings
- Train students in assistive technology, orientation, and mobility as appropriate
- Maintain detailed records and provide regular progress updates to families and staff
