This role is open to both full-time and part-time candidates, with weekly hours yet to be determined based on your availability and the district’s needs. W2 hourly contracts are available, and you’ll make a difference while earning between $41 and $46 per hour.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with high school students
- Proficiency in Braille and comfort with teaching braille literacy
- Strong communication skills and adaptability
- Previous experience as a Braillist or in similar roles is strongly preferred
- Ability to collaborate with educational staff, families, and support teams
- Committed, compassionate mindset focused on student achievement
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to visually impaired high school students in various educational settings
- Support and adapt lesson plans to facilitate access to general curriculum
- Provide direct instruction in Braille as needed
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Consult with classroom teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Offer resources and guidance to students, families, and school personnel
