Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with school-aged children with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and various instructional strategies
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, inclusive environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services for students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility
- Support students in mastering the use of assistive devices and technology
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to designing accommodations and goals
- Train and support staff and families in best practices for working with visually impaired learners
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, and integration within the school community
