Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Visual Impairment or appropriate state licensure
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies and alternative communication methods
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs
- Assess students’ abilities and develop strategies to maximize their independence and academic achievement
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to create accessible learning experiences
- Train school personnel in the use of adaptive devices and techniques
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports for each student
