Key Qualifications:
- New Jersey Certification – Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped Certificate (required)
- New Jersey Certification – Teacher of the Visually Impaired Standard (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or higher
- At least 2 years’ experience working with children with disabilities
- Commitment to pursuing the Teacher of the Visually Impaired Standard Certificate within 2 years, if not already held
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver engaging instruction and adapt materials to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students
- Collaborate in developing and implementing IEPs, working closely with school leadership and families
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to behavioral interventions, and support transition planning activities
- Provide hands-on assistance with daily living skills, including personal care and pool activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to policies and regulations
- Mentor teacher aides and volunteers, contributing to a collaborative team culture
- Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a positive role model within the school community
This full-time opportunity offers a competitive pay range between $70,000 and $90,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits such as 403(b), health, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and life insurance.
